When giving to others; whether it is your money, time or things which have sentimental value to you, how do you give this to others? How do you feel towards giving and how do you feel when you give willingly?
Remember this:
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35) (NIV).
Is it in your heart to give willingly? God Gives! So we must be Givers. Psalms 32:21 says "...the righteous give generously". (NIV). When we give, our giving must stem from God's unfailing Love. The most well-known passage reads, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son..." (John 3: 16) (NIV). God sent to earth his 'One and Only Son'! This passage holds such an importance about how God Gave! God is generous and He wants us to learn to be generous and Give, to be more like Him.
Giving requires having Faith in God. By not learning to give, if you are stingy, a miser and you worry about what you have; surely you are not giving generously. Faith is knowing and believing that when you give, all your needs will be met! Lots of people think it's vice versa, they believe that when all their needs are met then they'll give away. Learn to give with Faith. In Luke 6: 38, Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV). This passage reveals that when we give, it shall be given back to us; in a way saying that our cup shall overflow. Life isn't about the things we have accumulated, it is truly about how we show love and how we love others. When we give generously; whether this is our time, money, energy or effort, we are showing what really matters and are building into people and forming relationships, and showing Love.
God Gave!! So we must Give!!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for giving us your Son, Jesus Christ, so that we may not only learn to give but to give generously. Lord, help us to have continuous Faith in You; that when we give, it shall be given to us. Lord, help us to give easily, to understand where giving comes from, the roots of giving, and how much good comes from giving. In Jesus' name. Amen!
